EXTRA EXTRA!! Read all about the Christensons!

All righty folks, I know that I'm not the most diligent person when it comes to keeping in touch with people who aren't right by me. So this is me apologizing and giving the much needed update. :)

Sooo first things first... apparently there are some of you out there who don't know that we now have two dogs. Her name is Mika (meeka) and she's a ginger!! Ahhh those red heads ;) we got her back in Jan about 3 weeks before we moved to Jacksonville. This one is not shy at all like Suki, she very much wants to know whats going on in the world. She's actually brought Suki out of her shell quite a bit. Now the common ritual for guest coming over is Mika barking like mad and Suki wagging her curly tail with her ears back trying to jump on whoever is coming through the door (as long as she knows who they are). Mika is the bigger one of the two and Suki is very jealous of that fact, in fact Suki's been jealous of her since day one ;) only child syndrome I suppose.

We have now been living in Florida since Feb and, drum roll................
We will be living here for the next three years at least! David will be going into 26th squad and he will be deploying in November sometime. He doesn't have his written orders yet so we don't know specific dates. He'll be finishing training this next month and then he'll have to go to Sear school and then off to deployment for six months.

Since we're going to be living here for the next three years we decided to buy a house!! :D we got a really great deal on this place. It's a brand new house; never been lived in before, about 2300 sq ft four bed three bath and three car garage. My kitchen is absolutely gorgeous!! I have two ovens on is convectional and I also have a convectional microwave and a ceramic stove top. :D It's a big open floor plan in the living room with lots of natural light!! We will be closing in the next 2-3 weeks with our interest rate for 30 months of 3.825!!! I think we did pretty good for our first house. ;)

Finally with that new house we traded in our chevy trailblazer for a new Kia Forte! Because we now live further away from base we decided that we really needed a fuel-efficient car. We get and average of 26 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway, and thats a pretty modest estimate we decided. From our own calculation we get about 28-29 in the city and 36-39 on highway. Also because we are with USAA we got a pretty low interest rate for the car as well so we'll only be paying about $330 a month.

Wow... ok so thats all I've got for now. I have to go pack my house up to move and I will be posting a video tour once everything is in and looking beautiful. :)

Side note, we have a Queen bed in our guest bedroom so if anyone wanted to come a visit me and the pups while Davids gone and I'm all on my lonesome.... I'm just sayin... ;)

If anyone wants more updates just give me a call :) I'm always happy to talk! 580-231-2497

Love you all!

PS we are currently fostering a sweet little kitten who needs a good home, let me know if your interested. :)

I got my hair cut!!

Ok so Mom and Dad Wilson came to visit us last weekend and we really enjoyed having them here! We went to the aquarium and saw a dolphin show which was really fun. We took them to the beach which they enjoyed and showed them NAS-CCAD (base) and of course they loved Suki. ;) She warmed up to them pretty fast and loved playing with Mom. They got here Thursday the 5th, Dad left Sunday because he had to get back to work, and Mom stayed until Wednesday. Mom showed me how to pick out squash and how to prepare it, and even helped me make a few things like a yummy casserole and a key lime pie. :D It was so good!!

While Mom was here she also gave me a hair cut! :) I hadn't had a hair cut since the beginning of December last year because I've been so scared to go to anyone. I hadn't realized it but Mom has been the only one to cut my hair besides two people. Amy was one of them and the other was a hair dresser of Amy's. One of the first things I told Mom to bring when we found out they were coming was her hair cutting stuff. I showed her a picture of how I wanted my hair to look and told her how long I wanted it. I told her I wanted it a little past my shoulders and while
saying that I was showing her a little bit below my shoulders. What I didn't know is that she didn't see my actions and she was thinking something else. About half way through I went to brush my hair out of my face and felt the length.

"Wow Mom, that feels really short." I said. I went to the bathroom mirror and sure enough it was pretty short. I told her to continue with what she was doing since there's no way to undo it now. The final product took about five to ten minutes to get used to but after I styled it I fell in love! I'm so happy with my hair now :D it feels light and wonderful and it's very very cute! Thank you Mommy!!!!

So here are some before and after pictures. Tell me what you think. :D

I realize this one's a little blurry but it's a good shot of my hair.

Puppy!!!

SUKI!!!!

Ok so Suki was born April 9, 2010. She's a Shiba Inu (a Japanese breed) and we've had her for a little over a week now. For the past month every moment I had to spare I was researching this breed and I think I have a pretty good feel for our new dog.

Female Shiba's usually will get anywhere from 17 to 20 lbs and about 13 1/2 inches to 15 1/2 inches tall however both her parents were smaller so she'll more than likely be on the smaller scale. A Shiba's coat has two layers, a thick soft under coat that protects them from extreme temperatures and a second outer coat that is straight and stiff (just like a husky.) Their coloring is usually reddish with white on the belly, in the ears, under their jaw etc. but they can also be a tan color, black and tan, and some odd ball are even white or cream.

Shiba's are very clean dogs, they have been described as cat in dogs clothing. Wikipedia says they try to avoid mud, dirt, puddles and such on walks and can often be seen licking themselves clean like a cat. They are very intelligent and independent dogs but are very loyal to those who earns their respect. They have a high bark otherwise known as the "Shiba scream" and usually only bark when they are excited or provoked or unhappy.

So far with Suki we've noticed that she's very nervous around strangers but once she's been around them for a few hours she'll warm up to them by allowing them to hold her but she doesn't show them the same affection as she does Dave and I. She didn't bark for about three days and when she finally did we got so excited that she now likes to bark when really playful and to get our attention. She has been good with potty training and the few accidents she has had were our fault (like leaving the bedroom door open at night or not taking her outside regularly.)

She's on a weird schedule right now where she sleeps most of the day and then gets really active at night but we're trying to break that habit. She's a very smart dog, she knows that the leash means we're going outside and how to sit for a treat. We're still training her to chew only on her toys, (they're very mouthy dogs and no that doesn't mean they mouth off Mom Wilson :P ) but she does enjoy playing with almost all of
her toys. We fed her a scrap of meat fat the other day to see how she would react to it and now she loves just sitting patiently by us when we eat. She's really good at begging right now because she's just so darn cute!

I'm defiantly the alfa dog and she's very good at following most of my commands (at least the ones she understands) and she loves playing with Dad because he lets her bite (more or a nibble) him... but she still gets a little nervous when David is speaking loud or laughing. She's still in the mind set that men have cooties or something b
ut it's understandable because she's so tiny and men are so big and have really deep scary voices and such.

We have a lot of dogs in the neighborhood and she's terrified of all of them right now. There is a really big husky that lives next door and when he's not outside she loves to go over and sniff the place out and mark her spot but as soon as she sees him she runs away as fast as she can. The other day I saw him lying down next to his house and decided that it was time for Suki to introduce herself. I held her so that she wouldn't try to run away and we approached him slowly, she was sniffing things out the whole way over, I suppose he was impatient with our pace and decided that he would come to us at that point. Now this guy is pretty darn big and looks very much like a wolf, even I got a little scared of him. He pokes his nose right up to her and she freaks! Ha ha I wish I had recorded it because the growling noise she made was so funny. Needless to say she's slightly reluctant to go over there anymore, but she did interact with another dog which was medium size and even though she was
still nervous she did very well with the latter.

Ok I suppose I'm done bragging about my baby now... time for pictures!!! :D

House tour...?

I have been trying and trying to get this video tour of our house up for you guys to see and it just won't work. I have about 7 different videos of my house and none of them work for blogger I guess. So then I tried to put them up on youtube and it didn't want to work there either... :( Maybe one day I'll take a bunch of pictures of the place so that you get the general idea, or maybe blogger will stop being dumb and let me put some videos up one day. For now, I'm sorry to say, I've given up on it. It's starting to make me very frustrated...
Anyway, I just wanted you all to know so that you don't keep going to my blog expecting something to be there lol.

I'll post something interesting again soon.

David had his solo flight!!

K everyone here it is! Davids been working really hard and it's paying off :) He had his solo today and it went awesome! He was so happy when he got back, and you can see it in all the pictures :) So this is mostly going to be pictures because I don't know how to explain what exactly went on and I'm sure if David tried to explain only Tom and Kristin would get it ;) I will
tell you however that it's a tradition to throw the guy in a big tank after his flight. The point is to get him in the tank before he gets back to the flight room or each person in the class owes him 3 cases of beer (or in Davids case it would be Mountian Due or something non alcoholic lol). This however does not mean that you won't get tossed in, it just prolongs it :)
Also right before he does his solo he goes out with an IP and then comes back drops him off and does it all by himself. Thats why you'll see him taxi in and out twice in the photos.
So without further adieu..... Davids Solo Pics!!! :D
